Scoring
The premise of the Coffeemat Challenge is simple; enter an idea, get the most votes and win great prizes!
The purpose of this article is to explain how the Coffeemat Challenge scoring system works. Note that Evans Finch run other competitions such as the South West Environmental Challenge which are based on this same system.
Firstly, you’ll be pleased to know that the scoring is simple. Points are added for yes votes – yay! – but they’re subtracted for no votes – boo! As a general rule you are rewarded +2 points for a ‘Good Idea’ vote and -1 point for ‘Bad Idea’ vote.
Each idea in the competition has a Home Page which has a URL ending with idea/1234 – When you submit an idea you will receive a welcome email containing a link to that idea which you can copy and paste to friends and family to help you get the most votes and win prizes.
The best strategy for winning is to give some thought to your idea – good ideas will receive more points than bad ones. The best way to get the most votes is to share your idea on Facebook, tweet the link to your idea on Twitter, Email the link to your friends and family and let them help you get the most votes on your ideas.
Please Note that the use of vote exchange web-sites or any other kind of automatic system that increases score is banned. We actively track all voting activity and reserve the right to disqualify ideas that are deemed to be in contravention of the rules.
Above all – please have fun, If you’ve got a great idea, share it with the world!
